Building a new national news media company for Wales

On March the 1st  2021 Huw launched The National Wales, a national news service in print and digital. A culmination of three years of work, the partnership with Newsquest delivered the news on a regular basis every day online.

Newsquest withdrew funding in August 2022 as the news industry felt the increasing pressures of the cost of living crisis.

The lessons learnt from The National are being put to good use in the development of Talking Wales a publicly owned national news media company for Wales, providing news, information, opinion and features across a range of platforms.
